Expandable sink colander Hendi 535219
Technical data 01 / 02
This expandable sink colander combines adjustable, rubber-coated handles, support legs and fine mesh for rinsing and draining at a kitchen sink. It can rest across the bowl or sit within it, keeping the task at the wash-up station and directing water into the sink.
Where it is used
At a preparation sink, extend the handles to rest the colander across the bowl while rinsing vegetables or herbs. The rubber covering increases grip when positioning the handles, while the support legs offer another way to place the colander directly in the sink. Water can then drain into the bowl rather than across the surrounding worktop.
Fine mesh holds smaller ingredients while water passes through, making it useful for rinsing chopped herbs or other small pieces that could escape through larger openings. Once drained, the contents can be moved on for the next preparation task.
Care
The colander can be washed in a dishwasher, so it can join the machine-washing workflow after food preparation. That makes it easier to return this reusable utensil to the clean equipment flow without setting up a separate hand-washing task.
After handling ingredients at the sink, staff can place the colander with other items going through the dishwasher cycle. Its fine mesh makes it suitable for tasks involving small pieces, so include it in the wash-up after those rinsing jobs as well as after draining larger produce.
How to choose
Check the sink bowl’s width against the colander’s maximum adjustment limit when assigning it to a station. The overall dimensions also help assess whether it can be positioned in the bowl and where it can be stored between shifts.
Its low weight is useful when the work sequence calls for moving the colander from the sink to a nearby preparation area. Consider that handling need alongside the available sink and storage space: the dimensions inform where it can be placed, while the weight informs how readily staff can relocate it.
